Today we published a new version of the official international release format ETIM IXF for the ETIM classification. The new version IXF 3.1 was necessary to support the addition of feature groups, that will be first released with ETIM 10.0 before Christmas 2024.
What are feature groups? Feature groups are a newly added element to the ETIM classification model, to enable grouping (categorizing) of features in sections in groups like material, electrical or dimensions. Each feature can only be assigned to one group, that will be coded like EFG00001.
These feature groups can be used, for example, to sort and/or filter product data in applications utilizing the ETIM classification. As the number of features in ETIM continues to increase, this semantic grouping can greatly assist users in maintaining an overview and focusing on the most relevant specifications during their product search. However, their use is entirely optional. If you do not see added value for your application, you can simply ignore them, as they do not alter the existing class structure
