ETIM ITALY: Three organizations, one vision, endless possibilities.
April 15, 2025 – Milan. This day marks the official signing of the business network agreement within the framework of the initiative promoted by ETIM Italy, representing a decisive step forward in the digital and collaborative evolution of Italian industrial supply chains.
This new legal instrument for inter-company cooperation aims to foster interoperability among information systems and the standardization of technical data across businesses, through the shared use of the ETIM classification model and advanced tools such as APIs and the ETIM xChange standard.
The agreement, drafted according to principles of clarity, operational efficiency, and legal independence of the participants, outlines an innovative collaboration model where each company retains its autonomy while jointly contributing to high-value technological projects.
Tangible benefits for supply chains and the national system
Among the most significant advantages arising from the signing of the network agreement are:
- A marked improvement in the quality and accuracy of B2B digital information exchange, particularly regarding technical and commercial data along interconnected supply chains;
- Optimization of management costs through the elimination of redundancies, inefficiencies, and manual errors in data transmission;
- Enhanced quality of services offered by network partners;
- A significant boost in competitiveness of the Italian industry and trade, not only in the domestic market but, more importantly, in international markets, where supply chain digitalization has become a prerequisite for accessing new business opportunities.
System-wide impact: over 700,000 companies potentially involved
The scope and strategic relevance of this initiative are substantial: it is estimated that more than 700,000 Italian companies could be impacted, including over two million direct employees and tens of thousands of professionals—such as surveyors, architects, and engineers— who are actively engaged in planning, site management, and construction supervision activities.
In addition, the initiative involves manufacturers, wholesalers, and distributors of technical and building materials, who are now more than ever called to operate within intelligent, digital, and cooperative supply chain models.
A flagship initiative in the digital transformation of Italian supply chains. The signing of this agreement stands as a national best practice, capable of inspiring other strategic sectors in Italy as they transition toward interconnected, resilient, and sustainable business models, where inter-company collaboration is not merely desirable but emerges as a decisive competitive asset.
