The launch of the xChange validation tool is a good moment to also publish a patch release for bug fixing in the ETIM xChange schema, together with an updated version of country specific regulations.
We are happy to announce that the first version of the ETIM xChange validation tool is now live! The tool is a first basic version, that will validate the uploaded file against the xChange schema and the referenced ETIM classification. In future versions we want to ‘raise the bar’ and build in a tighter validation against provisions in the guidelines document (like conditional dependencies). If validated successfully, the user can create a certificate of validation. You can find the tool following this link. The validation tool is exclusive for ETIM members, you can use your existing login for ETIM CMT, if you don’t have a login yet please ask your local ETIM office for access.
In the initial release 1.0 of the ETIM xChange standard, there was an imperfection in the JSON schema, that did not allow special feature codes for imperial features (like EFI00001) and local standard features (like EFUK0001). Since this cannot wait until a next major release, we fixed this now with a patch release version 1.1. In the same release, we also adjusted the field length for “CustomsCommodityCode”, since it did not support global use. The changes are backwards compatible, so all files created according to version 1.0 will validate against this updated version 1.1 as well.
Finally, with version 1.1 we also release an updated version of the document with country specific regulations. In this version you can find new or updated content for Austria, Norway (electrical sector) and Italy (HVAC and plumbing sector).
You can find a zip-file with the complete documentation package in our download section, for a direct link click here. Also available for download is a file that offers a mapping of xChange fields to ETIM BMEcat fields as far as possible.
