ETIM Product Classification License Info

The ETIM Classification Model (‘ETIM Technical Information Model’)  and ETIM MC (Modelling Class) extension are made available under the Open Data Commons Attribution License: http://opendatacommons.org/licenses/by/1.0/

The ETIM model is free to use for everyone. But to protect the work done by our community, we would like to make sure that worldwide there is only one copy of the model being maintained by the rightfull author and owner, which are the members of the ETIM community. This prevents unwanted derivative models, devations or dialects which will ultimately deflect our community from reaching its goal: a harmonized standard for a product classification model to ensure problem-free exchange of detailed technical product information.

What does this mean in simple language?

You are free:

  • To share: To copy, distribute and use the database.
  • To create: To produce works from the database.
  • To adapt: To modify, transform and build upon the database.

As long as you:

  • Attribute: You must attribute any public use of the database, or works produced from the database, in the manner specified in the license. For any use or redistribution of the database, or works produced from it, you must make clear to others the license of the database and keep intact any notices on the original database.

Language versions license information

The language versions are maintained and owned by the national organisations that are acting as our representative in that country. The individual national ETIM organisations are therefore entitled to restrict access to their translation files to supporting members.
